The former Chief of Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell’s Security Detail has been charged for sexual offences, following allegations made against him by a female believed to be in her late 30s.
According to information from the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF), on Monday June 15, 2020, Cletus St Paul, 63 years of Tempe, St. George, was arrested and charged on three (3) counts of Indecent Assault and one (1) count of Sexual Assault.
He is currently on $20, 000. bail with one surety and is due in Court at a later date.
In February of this year, media reports were in circulation that the woman visited the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to report the alleged sexual misconduct believed to have occurred late last year. It was reported that the woman went to the Prime Minister at his Constituency office some time last year for housing assistance and she was referred to St Paul as the one to help her.
The woman alleged that she struggled with St Paul while her 18-month baby was on her shoulder as he used a finger to enter her vagina without permission, when he visited her home to give her a ride to look at a plot of land under the control of the State.
There are also reports that the woman reported the incident to the PM and a lawyer later advised her to take the matter to the police.
St Paul served as National Security Adviser to Prime Minister Mitchell and as the Chief Bodyguard to the late Maurice Bishop during the 1979-83 Grenada Revolution.
