AG stint coming to an end

Grenada is expected to have a new Attorney General (AG) in the New Year.

On December 31, 2020 Darshan Ramdhani’s stint with Government will finally come to an end as the attorney from Guyana, moves back to private practice. He has given two years of service to Grenada.

Ramdhani made the announcement last Thursday (Dec 17) on a local radio programme adding that the decision was made in an agreement with the Government.

He explained that when he was sworn in on January 03, 2019, his initial period was for one year. However, at the end he was asked by the government to stay on and his decision at that stage was to stay on until June of this year. “By March we got into [the COVID-19] pandemic in Grenada [with] cases, we declared a State of Emergency and I did indicate to government I would stay on for a further three months.”

Ramdhani said he however hopes to continue to serve Grenada in an advisory position, noting that the details are being worked out with the Government.

His first stint in Grenada started in 2003 when he served as Solicitor General of Grenada and Acting Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
