Impressive St George wins two T/20 matches

Saint George cricketers recorded two impressive victories in last weekend’s Grenada Cricket Association’s T/20 tournament.  The most impressive of the two wins was against Saint Andrew, whom Saint George defeated by nine wickets. 

The star performer for Sain George was Johann Jeremiah who stroked quick-fire 60 off just 37 balls. Together with Akeem Alexis, they put on 99 for the first wicket. Alexis made 31,

Batting first, Saint Andrew scored 110 of their 20 overs with Donald Mc Donald top-scoring on 37. Bowling for Saint George Nicklaus Redhead and Rishaad Daniel each picked up two wickets. 

In the reply, Saint George reached the target losing one wicket. The second Saint George victory was against the bottom of the table Saint John. Batting first, Saint George raced to 153 off their 20 overs with batsmen Javid Hazzard 48 and Johann Jeremiah 30. Bowling for Saint John Alvin Ramauth picked up two wickets for 23 runs.

In their turn at the wicket, the Saint John batsmen were bundled out for 60 runs in 19 point three overs. Javel St Paul captured three wickets for four runs, Kem Charles three wickets for 15 runs and Daryl Cyrus two wickets for 12 runs. 

Saint David scored a comfortable victory against Saint Patrick in a low-scoring encounter. Batting first, Saint Patrick made 98 for 8 off their 20 overs. Marlon Henry was the top scorer on 40 and bowling for Saint David, Imran Joseph and Jeron Noel each took two wickets.

The Saint David batsmen scored the 98 needed for victory in their 20 overs losing five wickets. 

Saint Andrew went on a run-spree against St. John in another weekend fixture. Batting first, The men from Saint Andrew recorded the highest team score of the competition thus far 179. National player Teddy Bishop stroked an aggressive 79 off 39 balls and Daniel Mc Donald v made 43.   In their turn at the crease, Saint John was bowled out for 72, losing the match by 107 runs. The leading wicket-takers were Richard Rogers and Daniel Mc Donald, each capturing three wickets.
