
National Insurance Board
The National Insurance Board is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, proactive professional to fill the position of Finance Manager at the National Insurance Scheme.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
Essentially, the Finance Manager directs the financial management activities of the National Insurance Scheme and is expected to direct a combination of specialized financial management undertakings in accordance with established accounting standard and conventions. The incumbent must ensure that reporting arrangements are in place to account for the receipt and expenditure of the Scheme’s funds and that appropriate accounting practices are followed.
The incumbent must ensure that the Scheme meets its financial obligations through the management of budgets and cash flows, the management of the treasury and the preparation of annual budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
i. Full professional qualifications in Accounting
ii. Good analytical ability and sound judgment
iii. Specialist training in computerized accounting systems
iv. Excellent I.T. skills
v. Sound interpersonal skills
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Finance Manager shall be responsible for the management of the Staff of the
Accounting Department to include the following:
- Overseeing the performance of professional and supervisory staff in support of the
general financial management activities. - Ensuring that all prescribed financial procedures and internal controls related to the
handling, recording and reporting of financial transactions are followed at all times. - Ensuring the issuance of the financial statements for the National Insurance Board in
a timely, accurate and complete manner. - Maintaining an accounting system that is adequate for ascertaining the value of assets,
liabilities, income and expenditure of the Board. - Preparing budgets, reports and forecasts for consideration by the Director.
- Co-ordinating the activities of the Board’s external auditors
COMPENSATION:
Salary and other benefits will be based on qualification and experience, and in
accordance with the National Insurance Board’s remuneration and benefit
package.
