The Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) T/20 Inte-Parish tournament continued last weekend with the Saint George making it four wins in as many matches. They defeated Saint Mark by four wickets in a low-scoring fixture played last weekend.
Batting first Saint Mark scored 106 for 9 wickets off their 20 overs. St. Lucia and West Indies youth captain Kimani Melius top-scored with 31 and keyron Peters 17. Bowling for Saint George Nicklaus Redhead, Javel Paul, Kenneth Dember and Daryl Cyrus each took two wickets.
In their turn at the crease, Saint George scored the runs, 109 for six wickets and secured victory. The leading scorers were Kenneth Dember 39, Johann Jeremiah 21. Bowling for Saint Mark Ronald Ettienne took three wickets for 12 runs.
Saint George has recorded four wins in four matches and is certain to feature in the playoffs.
Saint Mark earned their first win of the tournament, defeating their neighbour, Saint John, by 67 runs. Batting first, Saint Mark scored 144 for six wickets off their 20 overs, thanks to Sunil Narayan’s knock of 50 from 50 balls and Kimani Melius 29 and Micah Narine’s 23.
The leading wicket-taker for Saint John was Jonathon Taylor with three wickets for 26 runs from four overs.
Saint John batsmen were bundled out for 77. They failed to cope with the spin bowling of
Micah Narine who captured four wickets for seven runs from four overs.
The Parish of Saint Andrew suffered defeat against Saint Patrick, losing by six wickets. The Saint Andrew batsmen could only total 110 off their 20 overs and losing seven wickets.
Opening batsman Anil Matthew top-scored hitting 52 from 62 balls and Daniel Mc Donald 16. National Player, spin bowler, Dennis George proved much too accurate, taking five wickets for 10 runs from four overs.
Saint Patrick raced to the victory target of 112 given to them by Saint Andrew. Windward Islands Volcanoes Devon Smith, 41 and Jamaica Scorpions Denis Smith 38 not out being the main contributors.
Saint David defeated winless Saint John in their game reduced to eight overs per side because of the weather.
Led by St. Lucian and Volcanoes Larry Edwards, 34 off 20 balls, Saint John made 60 for four wickets. In reply, Saint David was equalled to the challenge, scoring 64 for three wickets. Keone George made 35 off 21 balls.
