A grandmother from Golf Course said the swim lessons are necessary as she signed up herself and 10
grandchildren to attend the swim week that starts on Monday (July 11).
Khadija Collins, who is learning to swim, brings all of them to free swim lessons on Saturdays, in front of Umbrellas. She said, “I think it is important for my grandchildren to learn to swim because we live on an island surrounded by water. So why not use what is available to us? We need to swim.”
As she brought the children for a few weeks the swim instructors encouraged her to join the adult lessons. Although a little hesitant, she got in and has learned to float and some of the swim strokes. She said, “These are things I should have learned a long time ago, but I didn’t know the importance of it. But now, as you grow older, you grow wiser.”
